We all love food, right? We all have blood flowing through our veins, yes? And I dare bet money that all of you have kind, good hearts. So this event is going to tick all of your boxes, trust me. On Sunday February 12th at The Rice Bowl in Belper between 1pm and 9pm, Woon (Rice Bowls owner) is hosting a charity night in support of Derbyshire Blood Bikes. It costs £12.99 per person, with 60% of this going to the charity (registered charity number 1143149), so basically Woon is covering his food and overheads, nothing in it at all for him.
The Sticky Beak Blog has visited The Rice Bowl and the food is delicious; there are Chinese, Malaysian and Thai dishes to choose from on this special buffet night and they are all top notch and very flavoursome. For those of you looking to multi-task, it is the closest weekend night to Valentines, so not only can you treat your loved one to some fab grub you can also support a good cause at the same time, #eatgooddogood.
Derbyshire Blood Bikes is nearly in its sixth year, and basically consists of a group of volunteer advanced motorcyclists who transport blood, documentation and equipment for Derbyshire NHS, providing a free service 24/7 as and when required between hospitals in Derbyshire and country wide if required.
As a former nurse I can imagine the vast saving this makes to our local NHS trusts, which can be put back into patient services. At some point we will know of someone who needs blood for whatever reason, and I would like to think that it would be available 24/7, 365. This charity more than deserves our support, so please, please support this event. Tickets are available from either The Rice Bowl itself or by contacting Derbyshire Blood Bike Events, Dave at theharvs33@live.co.uk.
