Nottingham confectionery store Treat Kitchen is giving away hundreds of free doughnuts on Saturday (October 1) to mark an exciting new partnership with doughnut firm Project D.

The first 500 customers to visit Treat Kitchen from 10am will have the chance of snapping up a free sample to mark the launch of a permanent Project D concession in the store, just inside the main entrance of Nottingham’s Victoria Centre.

Organisers of the launch are also promising a surprise celebrity appearance during the free doughnut giveaway, which will take place between 10am and 1pm, while stocks last.

The ‘sweet deal’ between the two firms will see Derby-based Project D creating bespoke doughnuts combined with a selection of Treat Kitchen’s own confectionery.

As well as offering its hugely popular standard recipe doughnuts, complete with added ingredients from Treat Kitchen, Project D will be supplying vegan doughnuts to complement the confectionery manufacturer’s own range of ‘gourmet’ vegan sweets.

Max Poynton, operations director for Project D, said: “We are so excited about the launch on Saturday, and to finally have a permanent home in Nottingham city centre.

“Project D has proved insanely popular with the public every time we’ve held an event in Nottinghamshire, so the deal with Treat Kitchen is simply fantastic.

“Treat Kitchen holds many of the same values that we do at Project D, and I’m confident that shoppers in Nottingham will love the new products.

“And, with the special vegan range, combining with Treat Kitchen’s amazing gourmet range of vegan sweets, there will be something for everyone.”

He added: “We’re expecting our doughnuts to fly off the shelves on Saturday, so I’d urge everyone to get there in good time.”

Treat Kitchen has allocated an impressive nine-tray display cabinet in its store for the new Project D concession.

The partnership with Project D was initially sparked by a chance meeting with Max Poynton at a Midlands business networking event.

Jess Barnett, co-founder and brand director of Treat Kitchen, said: “As soon as we started chatting, it was clear that Project D had lots of crossovers with our own business.

“Things like the vegan elements, which we both supplied, and the joyous, treat focus of our brands, meant it was likely to be a match made in heaven.

“The launch of our partnership this Saturday represents yet another exciting product that we’re proud to add to our range.”

Like Project D, which has seen meteoric growth since it launched in 2018, Treat Kitchen has seen its business grow 300 per cent over the last three years.

Founded in 2014, Treat Kitchen has gained a loyal following due to the high quality of its confectionery products and the company’s strong stance on sustainability, local community and charitable work.
