One of Chesterfield's best-known bars has unveiled a £300,000 transformation that sees Barça Bar evolve into a vibrant all-day food and drink destination, with a brand-new kitchen, an extensive brunch menu and a significantly expanded food and drinks offering.

The investment marks a major new chapter for the venue, which has built a loyal following for its cocktails and evening atmosphere since opening. Now serving food from 9am through until late evening, Barça has been redesigned to reflect the way people increasingly choose to meet, work and socialise, whether over speciality coffee, brunch, a business lunch, afternoon drinks or evening cocktails.

The move comes as hospitality businesses continue to respond to changing customer habits, with demand growing for venues that offer flexibility throughout the day rather than focusing solely on evening dining. Flexible working, coffee culture and the popularity of brunch have all contributed to people looking for places they can visit at different times, for different occasions.

At the heart of the investment is a completely new commercial kitchen, allowing Barça to serve food throughout the day for the first time. Brunch is now available daily from 9am until 5pm, featuring dishes including Walton Lodge steak and eggs, huevos rancheros, eggs Benedict, smashed avocado on sourdough, American pancake stacks, French toast and açaí bowls, alongside freshly baked pastries.

Throughout the day, guests can also enjoy artisan sandwiches, Mediterranean-inspired tapas, burgers, pizzas, fresh seasonal salads and hearty mains including teriyaki salmon, wild mushroom gnocchi and sticky pork tacos.

Complementing the food is an expanded drinks menu featuring speciality coffee, iced coffees, matcha, freshly made smoothies, wellness shots, handcrafted cocktails, premium wines, local beers and an extended range of alcohol-free options.

The result is a venue that effortlessly changes throughout the day, from a relaxed coffee spot in the morning to a lunchtime meeting place, before becoming a lively destination for cocktails, tapas and live music in the evening. Regular bottomless brunches, Friday cocktail offers and live music every Friday and Saturday further strengthen Barça's all-day appeal.

Many of the ingredients continue to come from owner Steve Perez's nearby Walton Lodge Farm Estate, where free-range eggs, beef and honey are produced just a few miles away. The menus combine locally sourced Derbyshire produce with Mediterranean flavours, reflecting Barça's distinctive style while championing local suppliers.

Mark Thurman, Managing Director, said:

"This investment has completely changed what Barça can offer. We've gone from being known primarily as an evening venue to creating somewhere people can enjoy throughout the day.

"Whether it's breakfast, speciality coffee, smoothies, brunch with friends, a business lunch or cocktails and tapas after work, we've created a destination that fits around the way people live today.

"Barça has always had a fantastic atmosphere and a loyal following. This investment builds on everything people already love about the venue while giving them plenty of new reasons to visit."

Located just outside Chesterfield town centre with complimentary parking, Barça is open seven days a week. Brunch is served daily from 9am until 5pm, with food and drinks available throughout the day and into the evening.
