The Walter Smith Farm Shop at Denby Pottery Village is celebrating its first birthday from 10th-12th March 2017 and is inviting their customers to join in the celebrations.

Over the three days there will be a barbeque, sausage making and pie making demonstrations, together with tastings from the farm shop’s most popular suppliers including delicious cheeses, chutneys, jams, wines, beers and much more.

Joining the Walter Smith Farm Shop are quality local suppliers such as international suppliers Tenuta Marmorelle of Puglia, Italy, suppliers to Harrods, who specialise in gluten free pasta, award willing olive oil and 15 year aged balsamic vinegar, along with Punjaban Indian Foods who shun additives in their curry sauces, pickles and rice kits.

During this celebration Walter Smith will be launching their ‘Wyton Wonder Pie’, created at their Huntingdon shop, which boasts a number of celebrity fans. The Wyton Wonder Pie was awarded Best Hot Pie at the Butchers Q Guild Smithfield Awards 2017 by Food Writer and Critic Tom Parker-Bowles, with Walter Smith also Winning ‘Best English Pork Product’. The main ingredients of the Wyton Wonder Pie are chicken, smoked gammon, cheese and parsley sauce - they certainly are something special.

For children there will be balloons and a Paint-a-Plate competition. The winning entry will be carefully reproduced on two plates – one for the winner and one to be displayed proudly in the farm shop. There will also be a competition to win a gift hamper worth £150.

Robert Jones, Retail Managing Director of The Walter Smith Farm Shop at Denby Pottery Village, said: “We are delighted that the farm shop has been so well received and would like to thank all our loyal customers who previously visited our Derby Shops for joining us here at Denby.

“We have employed a great team of 10 full time staff from the local area, together with part-time staff, who, along with our very special suppliers, have ensured the success of the Walter Smith Farm Shop, here at Denby Pottery Village. We are excited to see how the Wyton Wonder Pie is received at Denby Pottery Village and hope it proves as popular as our award winning sausages and champion pork pies.”

Gary Capell, Retail Director at Denby Pottery added: “The addition of Walter Smith Farm Shop at Denby Pottery Village has given a real buzz to the site. Denby Pottery has food at its heart when designing its tableware and it seems a natural step to include a quality Wiltshire farm foods shop at Denby Pottery Village putting food on Denby plates.”

Denby Pottery Village will be open from 9.30 am-5.30 pm on Friday, 10th March; 9.00 am-5.30pm on Saturday, 11th March and from 11am to 5 pm on Sunday, 12th March.
