JÖRO, the nationally celebrated restaurant, renowned for its innovative Nordic/Japanese-inspired cuisine, is thrilled to announce they have been awarded ONE MICHELIN Star at the 2026 MICHELIN GUIDE CEREMONY.

JÖRO relocated to Oughtibridge Mill last year following a 3 year full renovation taken on by owners Luke and Stacey Sherwood French.

The new dining destination, JÖRO 2.Ö, is in a beautifully renovated 19th-century paper mill nestled in the picturesque Don Valley, on the edge of the Peak District. This expansion allowed married co-owners Luke and Stacey to elevate their restaurant, previously housed within the unique setting of a modern shipping container at Krynkl, Kelham Island.

The site offers accommodation with five studio rooms and two one-bedroom apartments, giving guests the chance to stay for a foodie night or weekend getaway. Designed by Luke and Stacey, the rooms are Scandi-inspired, offering a calming atmosphere with views of the Peak District border.

JÖRO 2.Ö has remained true to its innovative cooking approach, applying modern techniques to the finest local ingredients and drawing inspiration from Japanese and Nordic culinary traditions.

MICHELIN wrote “JÖRO's move to a smartly converted 19th-century former mill on the outskirts of Sheffield made it one of the most exciting and impressive (re)openings of the year. Luke French's cooking is focused and flavourful, with his tasting menu being full of invigorating combinations and top-quality ingredients. Dishes are engagingly presented with obvious pride by the kitchen team.”

Chef and co-owner Luke French shares his enthusiasm “We are incredibly proud of this recognition and as we enter our 10th year, we couldn't think of a better way to celebrate our team's success. Hard work makes the dream work. Thank you to all of our families, friends, suppliers and of course to our guests - this one is for SHEFFIELD.”

JÖRO was also awarded Inspectors Dish of the Month in June 2025, for their Vale of Mowbray Hogget with Japanese-Style Milk bread and Ampersand Butter – Inspectors wrote “a simply superb dish of Yorkshire hogget. The rump was mature and full of flavour, cooked in such a skilful way as to enhance its natural deliciousness.”

Stacey Sherwood-French adds, “We are thrilled to announce this achievement, it is something we have dreamed of for many years. As JÖRO turns 10 this year we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate! We are proud to bring a MICHELIN Starred Restaurant to South Yorkshire.”
