Belper born and bred Ben Pollock returns to his home town to work with Devonshire landlord Steve Meath and help turn this pub into a gastronomic  destination for local people and visitors alike.  Over the next few months considerable work will be carried out in upgrading the public areas, but the biggest investment is in new head chef Ben Pollock.  For the past five years Ben has been working as group executive chef for the Saxon Hotel group in Sheffield where he was renowned for creating highly innovative menus for bar and restaurant customers, as well as large function groups.

With 15 years’ catering experience, 8 of which have been spent at head chef level in the 4* hotel arena, Ben’s experience and skills will be brought to bear to help revive this Belper pub and introduce a new level of pub dining.

An exciting new menu is already planned and will be launched on Thursday 1 December when the pub will welcome customers old and new to sample the new-style Devonshire food.  The new menu  is extensive and well priced with starters at £4.50, mains at £12.00 and desserts at £4.50, with fish, meat and vegetarian tastes well catered, as well as many gluten-free dishes.

The Devonshire Christmas menu is also available from December 1 serving both traditional dishes and those with a contemporary twist.  Booking is advised for the launch evening on December 1 and also for Christmas parties in the run-up to the festive break.  Bookings can be made by telephoning 01773 880049.

Food will be served at the Devonshire Wednesday to Saturday 12pm – 2pm and 6pm – 9pm.

Locals can expect some exciting events during the coming year, as well as on-going refurbishment to pub and restaurant.  Children and dogs are always welcome at the Devonshire, and there is ample parking.
