Newbiggin-By-The-Sea is Geordie Birds’s local beach so she went home whilst we took Mummy to see the Sculptures out at sea and then went, with Pooch, to see our friend, Michelle, in her fantastic Café, The Endeavour. As soon as we walked in the door we got a heart-warming greeting and it was as if we’d only seen her last week, which was lovely, and she made a real fuss of my Mummy, saying how nice it was to finally meet her. Not to be out-done, his royal furriness rolled on his back for a tummy tickle from Michelle and then got presented with a couple of treats – talk about spoiled!
No word of a lie, this gorgeous lady does the best, tastiest Crab Claw Meat sandwiches you’ll ever get your chops around! They’re not fancy-pants by any stretch of the imagination (they come on regular shop-bought white or brown bread – your choice) but the Crab is so sweet, succulent and tasty you could cry with joy when it hits your taste buds, and it’s plentiful as well, so you get to enjoy it for longer. A colourful, fresh salad and homemade coleslaw fill you up even more and the price is very reasonable, too (£8.75).
His Nibs is a sucker for Michelle’s homemade Lasagne with fresh Salad, homemade Coleslaw and crusty Bread (£9.75), commenting on its rich flavour and hearty texture every time he has it. I honestly do think that if we weren’t married and Michelle wasn’t married, that he’d whisk her off to Gretna – just for her cooking ability!!!
Chickadee was chowing down on a flavoursome quarter-pounder served with Chips, Relish, side Salad, homemade Coleslaw, and Onion Rings (also £9.75). No surprise that The Man pinched an Onion Ring, but there was no way he was getting anything else off Fledge’s plate, she saw to that!
Mummy Bird has got a pretty healthy appetite for her age (no disrespect meant, Mummy) but even she did a double take when she clapped eyes on the size of the Tuna Mayo-topped Jacket Spud with side Salad and homemade Coleslaw (£6.95) that got put in front of her! In case you haven’t gathered, my Michelle is a bonafide feeder, and the locals all love her as much as she loves them.
Folks of all ages are welcome at Endeavour Cafe, as are furries, but pensioners get good quality food, engaging company and genuine care from Michelle and it’s lovely to see a local business really being part of its community. If you’re ever in Newbiggin, please go and support this wonderful lady who I get to call my friend; thank you.
