The Sticky Beak Blog began just over a year ago as a feature of the local information site Amber Valley Info. The blog started as a bit of fun and gave an opportunity to showcase some of those great places to eat that can be found all over Amber Valley.
In that time around 20 restaurants, cafes, takeaways and even a secret tea room were visited and reviewed by ‘Sticky Beak’. The feature has become so popular that it has its own web site launching on the 1st August. As well as reviews, the web site will include menus, recipes and a mailing list for discounts and special offers exclusive to Sticky Beak followers.
“I couldn’t believe how popular the feature has become” said Paul Curran-Bilbie, owner of the Amber Valley Info web site. “We only included this feature as a bit of fun and in a year the reviews have been read around 9000 times”
“We felt there was too much misuse of negative reviews online and our food blogger ‘Sticky Beak’ decided to only write positive reviews – If she visits somewhere and doesn’t enjoy the experience then she just doesn’t write about it and they’ll never know she has been”
“Those that she does write about get awarded the ‘Hot Wings’ award and soon they will be able to display this in their restaurant or add a badge to their web site. We have had the logo and branding produced by Rachel of Greenmouse Design in Ripley and are really pleased with the result”
“So far Sticky Beak has covered Amber Valley and surrounding areas but she is happy to flap her wings and fly all over Derbyshire”
“I’m having so much fun visiting all these new places to eat as well as a few old favourites” said Food Blogger Sticky Beak “If you would like me to pay your venue a visit or you can recommend somewhere to visit then let me know”
