Peak Edge Hotel has been named among the UK’s top 25 wedding venues by leading wedding planning platform Bridebook - and is the only Derbyshire venue to make the list.

The four-star, family-owned hotel on the edge of the Peak District joins some of Britain’s best-known wedding destinations in the national selection, including Hever Castle & Gardens in Kent, National Trust Stourhead in Wiltshire and Dundas Castle in Edinburgh.

Its inclusion makes Peak Edge the highest-placed Derbyshire wedding venue on the list and adds to a remarkable run of national recognition for the independent countryside hotel.

Set amid the Derbyshire countryside, Peak Edge combines the character of a historic country inn with contemporary four-star accommodation, award-winning food and dedicated spaces for weddings and celebrations.

Exposed timber beams, natural stone and countryside surroundings give the venue the relaxed character and atmosphere associated with a luxury barn wedding, while couples also benefit from the service, accommodation and facilities of an award-winning hotel.

A key part of the Peak Edge approach is making wedding planning as straightforward as possible by providing much of what couples need in one place.

Couples can host their wedding, wedding breakfast and evening celebrations at Peak Edge, with accommodation, food and drink and a growing collection of additional touches all available through the hotel.

The wedding offering has continued to evolve over the past two years in response to changing expectations, including greater flexibility around midweek celebrations and bespoke wedding breakfasts.

Couples can also add experiences including a stylish cocktail cart, wood-fired pizza oven and traditional garden games handcrafted by the Peak Edge team, helping them personalise their day without having to coordinate multiple additional suppliers.

Having indoor and outdoor options also provides flexibility around the British weather. Because many elements are provided directly by Peak Edge, plans can be adapted quickly if conditions change - without couples necessarily having paid external suppliers to deliver and set up elements they are then unable to use.

Soraya Ferrer-Cabrera, Group Head of Commercial Events at Peak Edge Hotel, said:

“Couples increasingly want a wedding that feels completely personal to them, but they also don't want the planning process to become overwhelming. One of the lovely things about Peak Edge is how much we can take care of here.

“From the wedding breakfast and accommodation to the cocktail cart, pizzas and garden games, having so much available through one team means there are fewer suppliers for couples to organise and coordinate.

“It also gives us a huge amount of flexibility. We have beautiful indoor and outdoor options, but we all know the Derbyshire weather doesn't always cooperate! If plans need to change, we can adapt very quickly. If the garden games suddenly aren't going to work, for example, couples haven't paid an external company to deliver and set them up only for the rain to arrive.

“Ultimately, we want couples to enjoy planning their wedding rather than feeling stressed by it. Our job is to make everything as easy as possible while still giving them the freedom to create a day that feels completely their own.

“To have Peak Edge recognised among Bridebook’s top 25 wedding venues in the UK - and as the only Derbyshire venue on the list - is incredibly special for the whole team.”

Food is another major part of the Peak Edge wedding experience.

Its 2 AA Rosette Red Lion Restaurant champions seasonal, farm-to-fork dining, with much of its produce sourced directly from Walton Lodge Farm, owner Steve Perez’s nearby 360-acre Red Tractor-accredited family estate.

Beef, pork, lamb, vegetables, herbs, eggs and honey from the farm feature across the hotel’s menus, giving couples the opportunity to incorporate a genuine taste of Derbyshire into their wedding celebrations.

The Bridebook recognition follows an exceptional year for Peak Edge.

The hotel won Silver in the Small Hotel of the Year category at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2026 after winning Gold for Hotel of the Year at the Peak District, Derbyshire & Derby Tourism Awards.

It has also been named Boutique Hotel of the Year at the Midlands Food, Drink & Hospitality Awards, admitted to the Michelin Guide and achieved an AA Quality Score of 85%, placing the four-star hotel within five-star territory for quality and guest experience.
Peak Edge was also awarded Silver in the Venue (Hotel) category at The Wedding Industry Awards 2025.

Mark Thurman, Managing Director of Peak Edge Hotel, added:

“To be the only Derbyshire venue included among Bridebook’s top 25 in the UK is a fantastic achievement and something we're extremely proud of.

“Peak Edge has enjoyed an extraordinary period of recognition, but this one is particularly special because weddings are such an important part of what we do.

“We've continued to invest in the hotel and the experiences we offer while holding onto what makes Peak Edge special - independent ownership, personal service, exceptional food and an incredible Derbyshire setting.

“To see Peak Edge standing alongside some of the best-known wedding venues in Britain is wonderful recognition for our team and another fantastic endorsement of the quality of hospitality we have here in Derbyshire.”

Peak Edge dates back to the original Red Lion Inn of 1788 and returned to the Perez family in 2017. Today, the independently owned hotel has 27 individually designed bedrooms and employs a team of around 50.
