The Cathedral Quarter Hotel, a Grade II listed landmark in Derby, has opened its diary for couples dreaming of tying the knot in the heart of the city.
The hotel on St Mary’s Gate says bookings are up for 2026 and management believe the recent refurbishment and its award-winning chef are the reasons couples are booking their civil marriages.
Newlyweds Carrie and Stephen Jones heaped praise on the hotel and its staff after getting married there last year.
The pair described the day as “exceptional from beginning to end.”
Carrie explained: “One of the most memorable moments was walking down the aisle and seeing the smile on Stephen’s face, followed by the exchange of our vows. It was a truly unforgettable experience.
“The new team handled everything with professionalism and care, and the event was executed beautifully and exceeded our expectations.
“We have received numerous compliments from guests, many of whom described it as one of the best weddings they have attended. I would highly recommend this venue. It is a stunning location, and the staff were attentive, dedicated, and outstanding throughout.”
The Cathedral Quarter Hotel is the only boutique hotel in Derby that is licensed for civil marriages and partnerships, offering couples the convenience of hosting their special day all in one place. As well as this, the hotel can host wedding breakfasts, and evening receptions with some couples choosing to marry off-site before celebrating at the hotel.
Isuru Akalanka, the hotel’s Operations Manager, said: “It means a great deal to us to hear how much couples enjoy getting married at our hotel.
“We were thrilled that Carrie and Stephen enjoyed their day with us. Their kind words reflect the care our team puts into every wedding, and we are proud to have played a part in such an important moment in their lives.”
The Cathedral Quarter Hotel, one of Derby’s most historic venues, has long been a trusted choice for couples planning their wedding celebrations. Located within Derby’s Cathedral Quarter, the hotel is just a short walk from Derby Cathedral.
The four-star hotel is noted for its distinctive architecture and remains a popular option among couples seeking out a city centre setting with strong heritage appeal.
Isuru said: “The hotel is celebrating its growing reputation as one of the city’s most sought after wedding venues and we are thrilled about this.
“Our diary is already filling up this year and several couples have booked to have their wedding at the hotel.
“We know that the hotel has long been a trusted choice for couples planning their wedding celebrations and we would like this to continue.
“We can cater for 100 guests in our spacious ceremony and reception room. We also have packages which include the bridal suite and dressing rooms and we have more than 30 rooms for guests to book their overnight stays.
“The venue is iconic within Derby and we are extremely proud of our beautifully preserved period features and dramatic staircase which provides a striking backdrop for wedding photography.”
