An anticipated summer treat at The Cavendish Hotel is their outdoor Terrace which enjoys views across the lawns and countryside beyond leading to the Chatsworth Estate.

One highlight of this season is the Terrace’s ‘pop-up’ bar area. Here guests can order from a carefully curated selection of Sparkling wines and Champagnes.

Champagnes include English sparkling wine producers Ambriel, with their Classic MV Brut and Huzzah Rosé, along with house Champagne, Delamotte Brut and Laurent-Perrier Rosé Brut; wines include a classic selection of options by the glass as well as the bottle, with some more distinct choices to try too.

The Terrace is open daily, with a choice of menus available – including a selection of light snacks and nibbles from The Terrace menu, such as oysters, cured chalk stream trout, and chicken and leek terrine and a Strawberry and Ambriel Classic Sparkling wine sorbet, served with fresh strawberries and basil cream (Terrace menu available from 10am until 5pm)

The Garden Room menu also features a choice of snacks, such as sausage roll and pickles, a seasonal salad and sandwich selection, with meals including starters such as English asparagus and Derbyshire rarebit, and mains such as Beer Battered Haddock and triple cooked chips, Derbyshire Pork Belly and Derbyshire 8oz sirloin. A selection of Courtyard Dairy cheeses and popular desserts such as apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding, round off the dining experience. The Garden Room menu is served from 12 noon until closing time.

Whether you visit for a glass of English fizz and a snack, or a three-course meal, you can be assured that the produce is both fresh locally sourced, with suppliers such as Wye Bakehouse, Brock & Moreton (rapeseed oils), fishmonger RG Morris, Sheffield Honey Co. are among the list, which complement produce from the Estate itself, such as Chatworth Beef and Lamb raised free-range on the estate, and vegetables grown seasonally in the Chatsworth Kitchen gardens.

The informal elegance of the Terrace attracts hotel guests, locals and visitors alike, and although walk-ins are welcome and bookings can be taken on the day. Well behaved dogs are welcome to join their owners in this area of the hotel.
