Easter holidays are officially on the menu – and if your little chicks are already pecking their way through the cupboards, a meal out might be just the ticket.
Families across Derby and Derbyshire can tuck into a range of “kids eat free” deals this Easter, with everything from quick café pit stops to sit-down restaurant treats on offer.
Among those helping parents keep costs from boiling over is Nicco Restaurant & Bar in Derby, where children under 12 can enjoy a free meal from the kids menu throughout April when dining with a paying adult spending at least £15. This offer runs throughout April only, excluding special days and promotions (full terms and conditions apply).
The contemporary Indian venue is one of several businesses dishing up deals during the school holidays, giving families a chance to crack into Easter without scrambling their budgets.
Bhav Kumar, who runs Nicco alongside her husband Sanj Kumar, said: “We know the holidays can be a real juggle for families, especially when it comes to food costs, so if we can take even a small bite out of that, it’s something we’re proud to do.
“Eating out should feel like a treat, not a stretch, and Easter is the perfect time for families to come together, enjoy good food and make memories without worrying about the bill at the end.”
Across the county, a variety of venues are offering similar deals to help parents keep things sunny side up.
At Farmhouse Inns, including Cherry Tree Farm in Willington, up to two children can eat free with every adult main meal purchased. The offer runs Monday to Friday until April 17 and covers breakfast, lunch and dinner – ideal for families looking to feather their nests without emptying them.
For those after a quicker bite, the M&S Café in the Derbion store is serving up a free kids meal deal that includes a main, snack and drink when adults spend £5 or more.
Meanwhile, Flaming Grill Pubs, including The Nags Head in Mickleover and The Lodge in Alvaston, are offering a full kids meal – including a main, side and dessert – free with an adult meal, available Monday to Friday until April 17.
Shoppers can also pause for a bargain at Pausa Café in Dunelm stores across the region, where children can enjoy a main, drink and two snacks when an adult spends £4 or more.
Italian chain Zizzi in Derbion is also getting in on the action, offering free kids meals this Easter for those signed up to its Zillionaires’ Club app when purchasing an adult main.
And for a post-shop refuel, Morrisons cafés are offering free kids meals with any adult meal costing £5 or more at participating stores, including Wheatcroft Way in Derby.
Bhav added: “There’s a real sense of community when businesses come together to support families like this.
“Easter is a busy time for restaurants, but it’s also a chance to give something back, and hopefully make things a little easier, and a lot more enjoyable, for parents and their children.”
With offers spread across the county, families won’t have to hunt too hard for a good deal, making this Easter one where the only thing getting scrambled is the eggs.
