The Black Sheep Hotels Group will open the Ambassador Hotel in Inverness on Saturday 17 January following a £6 million investment of the former Strathness House Hotel on Ardross Terrace, overlooking the River Ness.

Housed within two Victorian townhouses dating back to 1874, the newly restored Ambassador Hotel features fourteen individually designed rooms and suites.

Opening on the same day is Talk of the Town, a new continental and Indian restaurant located within the hotel, and The Other Room, a library bar.

The renovation has preserved original architectural features including the external façade and staircases, while reimagining the interiors to blend antiques, period character and contemporary luxury.

The hotel’s fourteen themed rooms and signature suites are inspired by 19th-century travel and the Scottish landscape.

Talk of the Town is named after a Bombay restaurant established in 1968 and brings a Scottish-Indian dining concept to Inverness. The restaurant is led by Corporate Executive Chef Sinclair Pinto, who has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants with chefs including Angela Hartnett and Helen Darroze.

Located on the banks of the River Ness, the menu blends Scottish classics, continental dishes and Indian specialities using locally sourced Highland ingredients. Seafood will be supplied by local fishmonger Iain Stewart, with meats sourced from Lochaber Larder.

The restaurant will feature a curated wine and spirits list from the Library Bar, alongside classic and signature cocktails created by Antwerp-based mixologist Paul Morel.

The Ambassador Hotel is within walking distance of Inverness Castle, St Andrew’s Cathedral and Eden Court Theatre.

Bookings for stays at the Ambassador Hotel and reservations for Talk of the Town are open from Saturday 17 January.
