London, June 2025. The Cavendish Hotel at Baslow has been awarded Gold in the Taste of England category in the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2025 awards presentation which celebrates excellence across the hospitality industry.

Presented at an evening ceremony on 4 June at the Brighton Dome Corn Exchange, the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence champion the very best of the country’s tourism and hospitality industry, celebrating quality, innovation and best practice. They are the most coveted accolade in English tourism, with the Taste of England category recognising businesses within the tourism industry that offer outstanding cuisine, innovative service and excellence throughout their entire operation.

Richard Palmer, Managing Director of Estate Escapes by The Devonshire Group, comments: "Under the helm of our talented Executive Chef Adam Harper, we have endeavoured to celebrate the very best of Peak District produce at The Cavendish so we are thrilled to be recognised with this prestigious award. This is a testament to Adam and his team’s hard work and dedication in sourcing local artisan suppliers and working closely with the gardeners and farmers at Chatsworth Estate to create innovative and imaginative dishes.”

Following a total refurbishment, The Cavendish, which is set on Chatsworth Estate, reopened its doors in summer 2024. The hotel’s food offering at its two restaurants, The Gallery and The Garden Room, is overseen by Executive Chef Adam Harper who is renowned for his commitment to food sustainability, curating menus that emphasise the best of local produce, such as Chatsworth beef nose-to-tail. Working with Chatsworth gardeners and farmers, as well as suppliers from the estate and surrounds, Adam creates seasonal menus that celebrate the Peak District’s best-known producers, including the 10 mile tasting menu in which all ingredients are sourced very locally.

Rates: from £200 per night (Standard Suite; based on a B&B basis for two people including taxes & fees)
