Firm behind PizzaDog sensation to launch doughnut pizza

A streetfood firm that wowed Nottingham Forest fans with a hot dog and pizza combo is set to launch a new pizza using a sweet base supplied by doughnut brand Doughnotts.
Working Man’s Kitchen hit regional and national headlines after first serving its hugely popular PizzaDog to football fans at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground in 2022.
The surprising creation went on to be featured on several TV programmes, including Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Football’s Finest Foods’, where it proved victorious when pitched against a burger sold at Manchester United’s stadium.
Now, Paddy Sneath, who founded Working Man’s Kitchen in 2021, has teamed up with Doughnotts to create another kind of pizza – this time replacing the usual pizza dough with a sweet doughnut base.
Doughnotts has also collaborated with Paddy to help perfect his new Nottsville Hot chicken burger – a spicy fried chicken burger encased in a sweet-glazed doughnut bun.
The cheekily named Nottsville Hot, which was launched in the City Ground’s FanZone during Easter weekend, is a nod to a Tennessee speciality called Nashville Hot.
Paddy (37), a former pylon painter, said: “We’ve had some amazing success with the PizzaDog, which is now synonymous with Nottingham Forest. Some loved it and some didn’t, but sales have continued to go strong.
“When you come up with these wacky ideas, you never quite know if they’re going to work. But, with the doughnut pizza, we tested the nine-inch doughnut base from Doughnotts with a pepperoni pizza topping – and it worked way better than we ever expected.
“It rises beautifully in the oven and the end result is a fantastic combination of sweet and savoury. You’ve got to try it to believe it!”
Paddy hasn’t yet come up with a final name for his doughnut pizza, as he said that takes as much thought as the initial recipe ideas.
Unlike the Nottsville Hot chicken burger, the doughnut pizza will not initially be sold at Nottingham Forest home games due to Paddy’s other pizza options on sale. But it will soon make its debut as some of the many pop-up events attended throughout the year by Working Man’s Kitchen. Both new products are expected to cost around £8.
Megan Scaddan, co-founder of Doughnotts alongside Wade Smith, said: “We’ve known Paddy for some time. He’s great to work with and it’s brilliant that we’re able to join forces in this way.
“At Doughnotts we’re always looking to come up with different and unusual products. Something to make our customers smile – or give them a taste sensation they’ve never experienced before.
“Paddy’s very much cut from the same cloth. His amazing ideas may at first seem like gimmicks – but you cannot truly say that until you’ve tasted them. And they always prove really popular. We can’t wait to see how his customers react to the doughnut pizza and the Nottsville Hot doughnut chicken burger.”
