Alongside the great comedy, music and primetime Saturday night TV stars being lined up for the summer; Live At Melbourne Hall are pleased to announce a weekend for food lovers. Across the weekend of the 24th and 25th June, the walled garden is set to be taken over by the delicious cooking smells from celebrity chefs Gennaro Contaldo and Matt Pritchard for its inaugural Summer BBQ Series.
Both chefs will be designing exquisite menus, and guests can expect a variety of food stations covering a range of meats, fish, sides, salads and more - with Gennaro and Matt pitching in with the cooking! The £49.50 ticket price includes a 3 course BBQ menu and a drink on arrival and once our guest chefs have fed everyone, they will take to the stage for a Q&A hosted by The Brewhouse’s own celebrity Chef, Joe Hurd.
Born in Minori on the Amalfi Coast, Gennaro Contaldo is widely known as the Italian legend who taught Jamie Oliver all he knows about Italian cooking. TV credits alongside Jamie include the fabulous series ‘Jamie Cooks Italy’, ‘Jamie and Jimmy's Friday Night Feast' and 'Jamie’s Christmas’. He has also presented two series of the BBC Two hit ‘Two Greedy Italians’ and regularly appears as the Italian food expert and as a top chef on ‘Saturday Kitchen’. Having written over ten cookery books, they have since been translated into multiple languages and sold over 100,000 copies.
Formerly known as the front man of MTV’s Dirty Sanchez, Matt Pritchard has left his pranking days behind for his love of vegan food, health and fitness.
Matt’s first cooking series, ‘Dirty Vegan’, premiered on BBC One Wales to wide acclaim, coinciding with his vegan cookbook of the same name which was described by Waitrose magazine as having universal appeal. The series featured Matt cooking a variety of exciting dishes to win over the Welsh public. From a hearty vegan Paella for a women’s rugby team, to tasty energy fuelled meals for school dinners. His mission? Convincing the public that plant-based food can be a sustainable lifestyle option. Following its success, Matt published a second cookbook, Dirty Vegan: Another Bite, soon followed by his second instalment of Dirty Vegan TV series on BBC Wales.
Hosting both evenings is local celebrity Chef Joe Hurd. When Joe popped into Stables Ales at Melbourne Hall for a drink a couple of years ago, the stars aligned and a partnership began, with Joe now bringing delicious food to The Brewhouse customers. Often seen on television appearing on The Saturday Show and Saturday Kitchen, he has worked alongside some of the world’s most famous chefs including Heston Blumenthal and Paul Hollywood. He is pushing to remove the snobbery from food and teaching the next generation the skills to cook via Channel 5’s The Munch Box and his Instagram Live shows.
Lord Kerr says, “Joe has been a big supporter of what we have been doing with The Brewhouse and we’re thrilled he is going to host this summer BBQ weekend with Gennaro and Matt”.
Derbyshire’s Melbourne Hall is subtly establishing itself as one the East Midlands premier venues for summer entertainment. Eschewing the trend for sprawling festivals catering to thousands, Melbourne Hall is taking the boutique approach, under the new moniker - Live at Melbourne Hall. Influenced by Lord & Lady Ralph Kerr’s love of the arts, these intimate events will be held within its famed walled garden with a line-up that includes comedy, music, food and one or two famous faces from the world of entertainment.
The Summer BBQ Series is preceded by Just The Tonic comedy shows featuring the likes of Julian Clary and Johnny Vegas which promise to set the mood and provide the laughs. Household name and all-round entertainer Anton Du Beke visits for his ‘An Audience With…’ evening on Friday 20th May and The Kingdom Choir return to their intimate roots with their Saturday evening performance in the stunning grounds of Melbourne Hall on the 21st May.
Alongside the entertainment there will be bars serving a range of craft beer, real ale, fine cider and BBQ/Street food.
