During our visit we explored lively markets, wandered ancient medinas and experienced camel rides beneath wide desert skies while discovering Morocco’s food, culture and landscapes.
Marrakech – Desert Adventures, Souks and Moroccan Hospitality
Our first trip to Morocco took us to Marrakech, where we experienced the vibrant souks, camel riding in the Agafay Desert, excursions into the Atlas Mountains and the warm hospitality the country is famous for. From traditional tagines and mint tea to bustling markets and unforgettable landscapes, it proved to be a wonderful introduction to Morocco.

Morocco offers a wide variety of accommodation options, from traditional riads in the heart of Marrakech’s historic medina to modern resorts and peaceful hotels set in the palm groves outside the city. Many visitors choose to stay in a riad for a more intimate and authentic Moroccan experience, as these traditional courtyard houses have often been converted into small boutique hotels.
Hotel Riu Tikida Palmeraie – A relaxing all-inclusive resort set in the palm groves just outside Marrakech. Surrounded by landscaped gardens with pools, spa facilities and multiple restaurants, it offers a peaceful base while still being within easy reach of the city’s famous souks and historic attractions.

Moroccan cuisine is known for its rich flavours, aromatic spices and generous hospitality. During our stay in Marrakech most of our meals were enjoyed at our hotel, where we were able to experience a range of traditional Moroccan dishes alongside international cuisine.
Dishes such as slow-cooked tagines, fragrant couscous, grilled meats and fresh salads are staples of Moroccan dining, often accompanied by freshly baked bread and the country’s famous mint tea. Many hotels and riads in Marrakech offer a mix of buffet dining and traditional Moroccan specialities, giving visitors a great introduction to the local cuisine without needing to venture far from their accommodation.
