I am a family orientated bird as you know dear reader, so when The Boys mummy was winging her way down to stay with us for the weekend from her Geordie nest we decided to take her out to stretch her wings in the delightful town of Bakewell.
The weather was kind to us on Saturday so we set off bright and breezy in order to discover the treasures in this lovely town, and as such we didn’t have time for breakfast, so first order of the day was to fill our little beaks with some tasty morsels.
Without hesitation I suggested the team at The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop, so that’s where we headed quick smart. The first obstacle was to get me past all the treats on sale downstairs in the shop and get me upstairs into the quaint tearoom itself! Once seated we had a glance at the menu, we settled on a Bacon and Egg cob for his nibs, and a Toasted muffin with Bacon for me. Geordie Bird just wanted a large Latte and my chick wanted a Hot Chocolate with cream, so the Man and I had a large Latte each too.
In our nest we fall into two distinct camps ; one in the “Ketchup“ corner and one firmly in the “Brown Sauce“ team - it always causes a debate whenever we have bacon butties and neither of us will concede the point. My muffin was full to bursting with lovely thick rashers of Bacon and it tasted absolutely divine to my empty little crop. The Man Bird was equally enamoured with his Bacon and Egg cob, uttering little murmurs of appreciation with every beakful.
All the staff are great in the tea room, nothing is too much trouble for them and there were at least another dozen early birds eating whilst we were there, all receiving the same high standard of service. We even managed to have a quick catch up with the lovely Luke - always a pleasure to see his wide smile :)
If ever you find yourselves in Bakewell do pop into the tea room, as well as breakfast items they do a very nice selection of lunch time temptations. The only thing is its very hard not to buy one of their delicious Bakewell Puddings from the shop downstairs on your way out! Oh well, you only live once eh? ...... :)
