East Midlands restaurant chain Annie’s Burger Shack has appointed an experienced promotions and events manager to put together a programme of gigs, quizzes, family fun days and other attractions at both of its restaurants during 2023.
Will Bailey has joined the firm full-time as part of its drive to attract new customers to its restaurants in Nottingham and Derby by bringing people together to enjoy a range of special events throughout the year.
Well known across the region, Will has been a promoter in Nottingham for the past 18 years and has helped publicise events at venues across the city, including JT Soar Nottingham, the Rescue Rooms and Rock City.
Annie’s is already hugely popular with diners thanks to its huge array of New England-inspired burgers, which are all available in vegan, veggie and meaty, but it wants to grow its reputation as an entertainment venue as well, especially at its Derby restaurant, which is based in a former 1920s church and, as a result, lends itself well to hosting music and comedy gigs.
Alongside his previous promotion work, Will is already one of the organisers of the Notts Bad Movie Club, which takes place every two months at Annie’s in Nottingham and treats its regulars to screenings of films that are so bad they’re good.
The team is now launching a Good Movie Club, which will show popular and critically acclaimed films, every other month, while Will is also lining up more events, including a record fair and an appearance from children’s musical favourites Johnny and the Raindrops in Derby next month.
Later this month in Nottingham Annie’s will be hosting a screening of the music documentary Never Get Tired, complete with live acoustic punk music sets, and there is plenty more on the way.
Will, who is also a well-known local musician, said: “I’m really excited to be on board at Annie’s, which has shown over the past year that hosting events like the Notts Bad Movie Club and its regular quizzes is a brilliant way to get people looking for something different to do into the building.
“The Derby restaurant offers us so much scope because it’s a wonderful space that lends itself naturally to running bigger events.
“There is a shortage of venues in the city centre and promoters are already very enthusiastic about the prospect of bringing acts to Annie’s in Derby, so we’re confident of putting on a calendar of events that people will enjoy.”
Annie Spaziano, owner of Annie’s Burger Shack, said: “We're really excited about Will’s appointment and we believe that our Derby restaurant, which is a beautiful venue, has so much to offer in bringing interesting, fun and high profile events to the city.
“We proved that it’s a great venue with our previous Jason Manford comedy gig and other high-profile events, so Will is the perfect person to develop our events programme and he has already for 20 exciting events lined up.”
