With quality steaks at its core, a contemporary menu and a bar that’s guaranteed to bring in the crowds, Bar + Block Steakhouse is firing up the steak scene in the city of Nottingham.
Located in the Chapel Quarter, the new all-day dining steakhouse is the perfect place to enjoy a moment of respite away from the hustle and bustle. Whether you’re looking for a beefed-up breakfast, speedy working lunch, post-work drinks or a three-course meal with family and friends, you can expect a menu that is truly a cut above the rest.
Steaks + Breaks
For a solid start to the day, sink your teeth into hearty breakfasts including steak and eggs or the ‘Bar + Block Works’, with dry cured oak smoked streaky bacon, a pork sausage, spicy beans with smoked bacon, beef hash, mixed mushrooms and roasted tomatoes served with a fried egg and toast. Still hungry? Add a steak to the Works for just £2! Those with smaller appetites will welcome lighter options such as smashed avocado and poached egg on toast, or granola topped with fresh fruit and yoghurt, available until noon every day.
When midday strikes, steaks take centre stage. From rump to ribeye, and sirloin to spiral cut fillet, quality, classic cuts are sourced from cattle reared across the Pampas in South America, and dry-aged for a minimum of 28 days before they’re hand-cut to your size of choice. Fancy yourself a steak aficionado? Look to the Butcher’s Block for a selection of rotating seasonal specials, offering something a little different to all steak lovers.
Other highlights from the menu include BBQ smoked pork belly, 24-hour slow cooked marinated lamb shoulder, deconstructed beef wellington and handmade beef burgers freshly ground on-site. Moreish sides feature beef dripping triple cooked chunky chips; mac and cheese bites; and sweet potato fries with chorizo, feta and coriander. Catching up with friends? Enjoy a selection of Bar + Block’s grazing plates such as crispy tandoori spiced chicken wings, pulled beef croquettes; and salt and pepper squid, perfect with a cool lager and crisp cider.
Hurried + Hungry
After a quick bite? The Express Menu available 11:30 - 5pm Monday to Friday is the perfect way to inject flavour into a busy day. For under £10, diners can enjoy a glass of wine, beer or soft drink and a dish including steak and frites; open club sandwich or a classic 6oz beef burger and fries, just to name a few, all served within 10 minutes of placing your order.
Bubbles + Brews
Bar + Block’s lively central bar, lined with polished ceramic tiles and a beautiful oak bar top, is the ideal setting for evening drinks. An extensive menu of beers, wines, prosecco and spirits means there’s something to suit any occasion, from post-work tipples to cocktails before heading for a night on the town.
Adding a touch of indulgence to your working week, all cocktails at Bar + Block are half price from 5-7pm every Monday to Thursday and on Fizz Fridays, a bottle of Prosecco is just £15 all day, 5% off now at nexus discounts. Take a seat at the bar and choose from the extensive range of tipples from an Espresso Martini to die-hard classics including mojitos, cosmopolitans and daiquiris, to name a few.
Bar + Backdrop
Bar + Block Nottingham celebrates the theatre behind the restaurant business with a sleek open kitchen and stand-out central feature bar, complemented by reclaimed wood panelling, quality fabrics and copper finishes. An orange, white and navy colour scheme, contemporary artwork and Bar + Block’s signature neon cow give the steakhouse a fresh, modern look, while soft lighting over the restaurant’s brown leather banquettes provide the perfect place to sink into a juicy steak or cheeky cocktail.
