Excitement is brewing at newly formed Cow Hotels Ltd, as they prepare to unveil the first of their boutique hotel establishments. The Cow - Dalbury Lees, which is operated by the same team that have brought the highly successful Horseshoes, Long Lane and Cock Inn, Mugginton to life over the last couple of years is pleased to announce this historical move which sees the group progress further into the hospitality industry.
Old regulars, locals and guests from far and wide will receive a warm welcome to the newly created luxury boutique inn, which offers 12 stunningly decorated and furnished guest rooms with stylish en-suite facilities alongside a beautifully restored pub bar and restaurant.
The Cow formerly known as The Black Cow, situated in the rural and picturesque village of Dalbury Lees set in the glorious Derbyshire countryside will open its doors following months of meticulous planning and an extensive build and renovation programme.
Every effort and consideration has been taken to ensure that all original features have been retained, revealed and restored with widespread research and application by a local team of dedicated professionals.
QUOTE HOWARD THACKER, Managing Director - Cow Hotels Limited.
“We are continually asked to recommend high quality accommodation in the area and therefore decided it was time to make the offer ourselves. As luck would have it one of my oldest and best pals happened to own this delightful property, it was the perfect site for our concept. After nearly a year of planning and building works The Cow is now born.
Steeped in local history The Cow now provides 12 luxurious, individually designed rooms which feature the latest tech, including complimentary Wi-Fi, the revolutionary “Open Key” door systems and smart TV’s for work and pleasure.
Alongside the rooms, the property boasts a warm and convivial dining restaurant and cosy bar area, which has been stripped back to reveal the heritage and character of this historical building with roaring wood burners and a wide selection of real ales all vital ingredients for a quintessential, modern British inn.
An eclectic ‘30-mile’ menu of mouth-watering, locally sourced food and a distinct wine list from the UK’s oldest and much revered wine merchant Corney & Barrow will delight our guests. The rural and peaceful location makes it an ideal base for corporate visitors to local industry as well as leisure clients visiting the wonderful Derbyshire and Peak District and countryside that surrounds this establishment.
We have been incredibly fortunate to secure the services of Thomas Cross as General Manager. He has assisted me daily and has driven the development of the Cow over the last 6 months. Still a young man, compared to me in any case! Tom is no novice to the challenges that are to be faced when opening a new Hotel/Inn and is more than rising to the opportunity.
Tom, is a qualified chef and prior to joining The Cow was Co-Founder and Manager of the Award Winning Bearslake Hotel, a 13th Century Inn on the edge of Dartmoor. He has championed this industry for all of his working life. Tom has scooped many awards along the way from Trip Advisor to countless Dinner Awards, the much recognised Booking.com Excellence Awards to name but a few.”
QUOTE THOMAS CROSS, General Manager – The Cow, Dalbury Lees.
“It has been a real pleasure to have joined Howard and the team all of whom share a passion for excellence.
the last few months I have been lucky enough to recruit a superb new team to assist me at The Cow. Ben Peverall, our new Head Chef comes to us after a spell alongside Gareth Ward at The Horseshoes and previously at the world class Loch Lomond Club North of Glasgow. Without a doubt Ben is a most talented chef and I am sure together with his first-class kitchen team will produce fantastic food for our guests. Paul Shaw my Assistant Manager has been a tremendous support over the couple of months and will provide key support to the running of the Inn. We are so fortunate to have put together such a strong team of dedicated professionals who much look forward to welcoming our visitors and creating what we hope will become a truly enjoyable and memorable experience.
The Cow has been many months in the planning and you can be sure whether you come to stay in one of our fabulous new rooms, dine in the restaurant, or just pop in for a drink, a warm welcome awaits.”
