Amber Valley Wines are over the moon to announce that we have been awarded a Commended Award in the International Wine Challenge (IWC) 2018 (www.internationalwinechallenge.com), for our Lindway White 2016 - only the 3rd vintage from our Derbyshire vineyard.
The International Wine Challenge (IWC) owned by William Reed Business Media is now in its 34th year. The IWC is accepted as the world's finest and most meticulously judged wine competition which assesses every wine blind and judges each for its faithfulness to style, region and vintage.
Throughout the rigorous judging processes, each medal-winning wine is tasted on three separate occasions by at least 10 different judges and awards include medals (Trophy, Gold, Silver, Bronze) and Commended and Great Value awards.
Vineyard Owner Duncan Mercer said "This makes all the hard work worthwhile, from planting by hand the vineyard in deep snow to producing International Award Winning Wine - the dream really has come true!"
Barry Lewis, co-owner, added "We really weren't expecting this so early, this is only our 3rd vintage - but we felt that the 2016 came out really well, we are proud of it, so we gave it a go. To win an award against wines from around the world, it really shows how far English Wine has come in the last few decades, and that it is not restricted to the southern & home counties."
As the vineyard is still in it's infancy the Lindway White is blended wine from all of our grapes - it is a beautifully light, off dry English White Wine - citrus notes and hints of Grapefruit. 11% Alc Vol.
