National pub operator, Punch is confident of a great return for its £580,000 investment in popular, Derby pub, The Bank.

The Aspen Drive venue is getting a complete makeover and will be reopening at midday on Thursday 15 December in time for the Christmas festivities.

The refurbishment comprises full redecoration throughout, including the function room and ladies and gents facilities, to create a relaxed environment for customers. With an emphasis on sports entertainment, The Bank will have 15 TVs showing Sky Sports, BT Sports and Racing UK and there will be designated areas for pool, darts, karaoke and live music.

As well as a new look, The Bank will also have a new publican in charge. Experienced caterer, Ian Harper, along with his wife Janet and daughter Lucy, will be taking over the helm when the pub reopens and are looking forward to putting ‘the family’ back into The Bank.

Ian said: “The Bank is well-known for its sports entertainment which will continue, but we also want to broaden the pub’s appeal by offering something for all the family. We have great facilities including a function room that can accommodate 100 people. It’s great to see Punch making such a significant investment in The Bank and I’m looking forward to relaunch night, showing off the pub’s new look and getting to know our customers.”

The Bank will be open from 10am every day serving coffee and cakes and tasty dishes from a new menu including the ‘bank burger’, chicken wings, hotdogs and ribs. For those not as keen on sports, the pub will be running quiz and bingo nights, karaoke on Fridays and live music every Saturday.

Commenting on behalf of Punch, Aimee Moss, openings manager, said: “The Bank is ideally located to attract a wide range of customers and Ian and his team have some great plans in place to ensure that they have something for everyone. With great food and drink offers throughout the week, plenty of entertainment and the bonus of a newly-refurbished function room, I’m confident that The Bank now has all the right ingredients for being a successful, family friendly, community pub. I’m looking forward to continually supporting Ian and helping him to place The Bank firmly on the map as a great place to go locally for food, fun and a friendly welcome.”
