A Long Eaton restaurant is celebrating after receiving a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award 2026, placing it among the top 10% of restaurants listed on the platform worldwide.
The Butchers at Westgate received the award after consistently attracting positive reviews from diners during the past 12 months.
Based inside the restored Victorian Westgate Mill, the independent restaurant has continued to grow despite challenging trading conditions across the hospitality industry.
It has welcomed customers for everything from date nights and family celebrations to its increasingly popular Sunday lunches. Its eye-catching Mega Roast has also attracted diners from across the East Midlands.
Jason Adams, co-owner of The Butchers at Westgate, said: “Receiving the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award 2026, and being recognised among the top 10% of restaurants worldwide, is a really special achievement for us.
“Independent hospitality is facing some incredibly challenging times, so to receive this recognition now means even more. Behind the scenes, there are always challenges, but our team continues to show up every day with the same passion, care and determination to give our guests a great experience.
“Ultimately, this award belongs to our whole team – and to the guests who continue to choose independent businesses like ours. Every booking, every Sunday roast, every celebration and every review genuinely makes a difference.
“We’re incredibly proud of what we’re building at The Butchers at Westgate, hugely grateful for the support we’ve received, and determined to keep doing what we love: great British cooking, old-fashioned hospitality and creating somewhere people want to keep coming back to.”
The Butchers at Westgate has been owned by Jay and Chloe since June 2024. It is known for its modern British menu, cocktails, steaks and Sunday roasts.
Its beef is sourced from Glebe Farm in Shardlow through Derbyshire-based butcher Owen Taylor & Sons.
