The owners of the city’s first ‘Caribbean garden bar’ have been blown away by the public reaction to their re-invention of the tiki bar concept.
Opening in December last year, Kelham Island’s Palm has been struggling to keep up with demand for its Caribbean-inspired bottomless brunch with hundreds of people a month booking in.
The recent Bank Holiday period broke all records at the venue.
’90s supermodel Heather Stewart-Whyte, former Sheffield Wednesday/ Leeds United defender Jon Newsome and the recently crowned Miss South Yorkshire, Whitney Dsane, were among the guests who turned out to experience the unveiling of the £500,000 investment by Sheffield-based Ascent Leisure in Kelham Island late last year.
Dominic McKaig, Group Marketing Manager, said: “When we first opened, we wanted to create somewhere that felt like an escape from the ordinary - somewhere full of warmth, colour and atmosphere. The reaction over the last six months has exceeded expectations.
“The bottomless brunch has really taken off and the recent Bank Holiday was our strongest week yet in terms of bookings and revenue. We’re now seeing customers travelling from across South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire to experience what we’re doing here.”
Designed as a blend of Caribbean vibrancy and Sheffield’s industrial heritage, it aims to set a new benchmark for destination venues in the city.
A brand new menu boasts classic Caribbean dishes such as jerk chicken and rice and peas, given a Sheffield twist by Ascent’s executive chef Tom Wells-Lomas working alongside a Caribbean chef.
There is also a popular weekly reggae night.
Available for private hire, Palm will offer flexible event packages with handcrafted cocktails, tropical décor and laid-back summer vibes.
The bar is open every week from Friday to Sunday every week.
Palm is located at 92 Burton Road, Kelham Island, Sheffield S3 8DA.
