With Afternoon Tea at The Cavendish inspired by Jane Austen’s novel ‘Pride & Prejudice,’  guests can enjoy an elegant spread of savouries and sweet treats, created with locally farmed produce and crops from Chatsworth Estate’s kitchen gardens.

A beautiful spread of sandwiches, served with Moss Farm sausage rolls and garden quiche, include smoked salmon and lemon cream, coronation chicken and cucumber and herby cream cheese. In true country house style, home-baked buttermilk scones are central to the afternoon tea experience, served with homemade strawberry jam and clotted cream. Sweet delicacies include lavender choux bun, strawberry tart and marmalade financier. Champagne is an optional extra to mark the occasion - try a glass of the House Champagne, Delamotte Brut at £13.90.

This literary-inspired afternoon tea is the perfect complement to a day out at Chatsworth’s ‘House of Stories’. This seasonal exhibition which will run until 4th October, celebrates the Cavendish family’s great love of the literary arts, and also supports the UK’s ‘National Year of Reading’.

The hotel also has created a Regency-style reading nook to enjoy, should you wish to round off a perfect afternoon escape, taking in the atmospheric setting of “Pemberley” and enjoying your favourite book.

‘Pride & Prejudice’ Afternoon Tea - £45 per person

Champagne - £13.90 per glass, with a choice of sparkling Champagne and wine available

Afternoon tea is served Monday-Saturday 12-4.45pm
