As construction of Belper’s keenly-anticipated new Swiss Tearooms progresses, the venue now has an operator, ready to serve locals and visitors when the facility in the River Gardens opens in spring of next year.

Amber Valley Borough Council’s search for an operator generated a huge amount of interest from people wishing to run the new tearooms and following an exhaustive selection process the council was delighted to appoint Deep Beat Entertainment which operates a series of unique high quality cafe's under its Parklife brand.

Deep Beat Entertainment’s roots began at a café in Macclesfield where they turned a vacant building into a bustling community hub with consistent, seven days-a-week opening. The café has since hosted many community events, live music evenings, and brought the local community together.

The company has opened 11 cafés since then – all with a strong sense of community at the heart of their operation, along with sustainability and local supply chains.

Louis Dixon of Deep Beat Entertainment, commented, "We are delighted to have been appointed as the operator and we are so excited about the launch of Park Life Café at The Swiss Tea Rooms.

"Our locally-inspired and quality-focused menu will offer something for every visitor to the gardens. That could be a relaxed bite to eat whilst taking in the beautiful surroundings, a barista-crafted coffee enjoyed with a sweet treat from our local bakery supplier, or a fresh and convenient takeaway meal served in fully compostable and recyclable takeaway packaging. We are looking forward to working with the friends and other community organisations to bring back the much-loved Swiss Tearooms."

Amber Valley Borough Council’s portfolio holder for community safety and regeneration, Councillor Ben Bellamy, said, "The appointment of Deep Beat is an exciting step, marking the start of the countdown to the opening of the Swiss Tearooms in better times next year. This will be a real enhancement to the River Gardens and an offering eagerly awaited by locals and visitors alike."
