What better way to end a Valentine’s Day meal than with a coffee and a piece (or two!) of brownie? The Bake Sheds brownies are delicious, and very moreish, as you may have read in a previous review and deserve an equally lovely partner. His Nibs had been to the Fine Food North Show in Harrogate a few days earlier and came back with some coffees for us to sample. The one he happened to pick out on this occasion is from the York Coffee Emporium who call themselves”York’s Independent Artisan Coffee Roasters”. The Ninth Blend is the recipient of a Great Taste award (2014) and is a medium roast coffee.

As it was brewing I have to say it smelled wonderful, filling my kitchen with its delicious aroma. When we sipped it, it released a gorgeous sweet note on the palate which developed into a more honeyed taste later. I have my coffee without sugar, and due to its sweeter notes I would say to those that take sugar to err on the side of caution and go lighter than usual on the sweet stuff.

As an end to a meal, you could certainly do worse, and I think this would appeal to those more general coffee drinkers as well as bean buffs :)
