This month, Heavenly Desserts has awarded its first Deserve a Dessert winner with Naomi Weston winning the chance to the indulge in some luxury desserts following her inspirational support to her friend, and ongoing commitment to her local community.
The first Deserve a Dessert winner, Kart Lester Calonge Balangue who nominated his friend, Naomi Weston
The campaign, recently launched by Heavenly Desserts across the UK, put out a call for people to nominate a friend, relative or stranger who had selflessly made a difference or positive impact on the lives of others - and nominations quickly came flooding in from across Derby where Heavenly Desserts has a signature store, and the rest of the UK.
Originally planned as a one off, the unexpected flourish of nominations of unsung heroes, was so inspirational that Heavenly Desserts have made Deserve a Dessert a monthly campaign to help more people say thank you to those in Derby who go above and beyond the call of duty.
Yousif Aslam, Heavenly Desserts managing director, said; “It’s important for us to be part of the local community and we are delighted to help our customers recognise, and thank, their heroes. We were blown away with the response and are really excited to help celebrate the great things that go unrecognised.”
Over 60 people nominated mums, partners, friends and colleagues who had each done a good deed. Yousif added; “Some had offered support and friendship in times of need whilst others showed strength overcoming personal challenges whilst still putting others first; however, all of those shortlisted had gone above and beyond in their communities. It was so hard to choose a winner however it was both Naomi’s story that really caught our eye – a worthy winner.”
With the search for another local hero open, those who have received a selfless act of kindness are encouraged visit Heavenly Desserts Facebook page (www.facebook.com/HeavenlyDesserts.UK) and post your nomination or send us a message using the hashtag #deserveadessert.
