Never let it be said that Derby is dull; just lately there have been lots of fantastic new restaurants, bars and lounges opening to give people more opportunities to enjoy themselves.

Last night, Wednesday 27th July 2016, saw the latest hotspot open its doors; The Carnero Lounge, and there was a great turnout celebrating the launch party.

Propaganda PR and Carnero’s Management team were leaving nothing to chance to ensure that everyone had a great time and both the kitchen and bar teams were on the top of their games.

The Boy Wonder and I headed upstairs to soak up the upbeat but informal atmosphere and a lovely hostess seated us and soon brought a trio of delicious Tapas dishes to savour.

We started off with Butternut Squash, Sweet Potato and Goats cheese with Chipotle Chilli jam and it was lovely; nice size pieces of vegetables that were cooked perfectly and the tang of the cheese and chilli jam complimented the sweet vegetables brilliantly.

The next dish contained Chorizo sausage cooked simply in garlic, red onions and red wine, and because it was a dish of so few ingredients the Chorizo flavour shone through so that you could fully appreciate it.

Some slices of bread were put to good use mopping up the cooking sauce; well, waste not, want not as they sayJ. Our third tapas dish was Patatas Bravas with roasted garlic mayonnaise, and again it was delicious with its punchy tomato sauce taking all the applause in our opinion.

A while later we wandered downstairs to see what was happening, and there was a real buzz by now with everyone laughing and chattering whilst drinking Estrella lager and a fab selection of wines.

We managed to snag a seat at a quiet table and an absolute diamond by the name of Natasha came to check that we were having a good night; she also grabbed us some Meatballs and Courgette, sweet pepper and Halloumi to try. I kept sneaking a peek at her, and even when she was rushed off her feet she never stopped smiling; every time she passed a table she would just check that the people were ok for drinks and having fun.

The whole team worked tirelessly to ensure that guests were getting the most from the launch night, so top marks and a round of applause to you all.

Food is served all day, and there are some excellent offers including a breakfast club deal, lunchtime deals, Monday deals and Tapas Tuesdays so there is always to tempt you in if you’re shopping or even grabbing lunch away from the office.
