Nestled in the heart of Paris's 14th arrondissement, on the vibrant Rue de la Gaîté, Hotel Le Magnifique embraces the artistic spirit of the neighbourhood while bringing a bold new energy and distinctive eccentricity to the Left Bank.
The hotel is the result of a daring project conceived by Jacques Blanc in 2024 and developed in collaboration with decorator and designer Vincent Darré. What began as an ambitious concept quickly evolved into a unique creative vision.
Built on the site where Les Mille Colonnes once stood – a renowned theatre established in the early 19th century – Hotel Le Magnifique seeks to revive the essence of this artists' district, which flourished throughout the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s before gradually giving way to the prominence of the Right Bank.
Surrounded by iconic theatres, the hotel aims to become a true artistic laboratory where every corner immerses visitors in the vibrancy of Paris, both past and present. More than simply a place to stay, Hotel Le Magnifique offers a complete immersion into the worlds of art and performance.
From the entrance hall, hand-painted columns evoke those of La Coupole, while a large fresco celebrates the worlds of art and the circus. The reception desk, adorned with vintage keys sourced over time, recalls paradise itself.
The swimming pool, featuring mythological mosaics reflected in the water, opens onto a patio inspired by the elegance of a Greek palace.
The bar, Le Picabia – a tribute to the celebrated Parisian painter – moves in rhythm with the neighbouring theatres, marking openings and intermissions with the ringing of a bell.
A glass elevator inhabited by mermaids serves five floors, each revealing its own distinctive universe: the Garden of Eden, mythology, the abyss, Art Nouveau and the Milky Way.
The hotel's 62 individually designed rooms are all original creations by Vincent Darré, with bespoke furniture, ceramic details and lighting combining to create an immersive and imaginative experience.
Rooms at Hotel Le Magnifique start from €179 per night.
"Travellers will leave this hotel with stars in their eyes, immersed in a truly unique experience. This place is more than a hotel – it is an unconventional vision where all forms of art come together to evoke an imagined Paris, where every detail has been designed to convey the refinement of French decorative arts in a neighbourhood rich with the memory of the creative minds who once gathered here. This hotel is a tribute to their creative freedom."
