Derbyshire & Peak District hotels team up with Athletic Brewing to support Don’t Risk the Drive campaign

Casa Hotel and Peak Edge Hotel have partnered with award-winning alcohol-free brewer Athletic Brewing to reward guests who choose to drive safely during the festive season and support Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner’s Don’t Risk the Drive campaign.

Throughout December, designated drivers can enjoy The Designated Driver’s Pint: a complimentary pint of alcohol-free Athletic Run Wild IPA for anyone dining or staying at either of the independent four-star hotels.

Co-branded tent cards and coasters will carry the message: Thanks for keeping Derbyshire’s roads safe - this one’s on us.’

When guests arrive, designated drivers simply let the team know and hand over their car keys for safekeeping. They will receive a full-flavoured alcohol-free craft beer that helps them enjoy the occasion while still being able to drive home safely.

The initiative supports Don’t Risk the Drive, a cross-Derbyshire campaign from the Police and Crime Commissioner for Derbyshire which is encouraging people to plan how they will get home before the first drink is poured. The campaign highlights the dangers of drink driving and the simple, practical steps people can take to avoid it, such as using public transport, booking a taxi, arranging a lift, choosing to be the designated driver or planning to stay over. It also promotes the growing choice of low and no-alcohol drinks, so drivers and non-drinkers can still enjoy a night – or day - out without alcohol.

Mark Thurman, Managing Director at Casa Hotels Group, said:
“Christmas is a time for friends, family and celebrations, and designated drivers play a big role in making sure everyone gets home safely. The Designated Driver’s Pint is our way of saying thank you. Run Wild IPA tastes great, feels special and gives drivers the chance to enjoy a festive pint without the risk.”

Jonny Cartwright, Associate Brand Manager UK at Athletic Brewing, said:
“We are really pleased to support Casa and Peak Edge with this initiative. Choosing to drive friends and family home safely is a big responsibility. If we can help make that feel rewarding rather than like missing out, that is a positive step for everyone.”

Nicolle Ndiweni-Roberts, Police and Crime Commissioner for Derbyshire, added:

"Our message this festive season is simple: enjoy what our city and county has to offer, enjoy yourselves, but please don’t risk drinking and driving. I would like to thank Casa Hotels Group and Athletic Brewing for backing that message with a practical, alcohol-free offer for designated drivers. The choices we make impact lives, this is why it is my hope that this campaign encourages more people to plan ahead, make the right choices and get home safely.”

To help spread the message further, Casa Hotel, Peak Edge and Athletic Brewing are launching the Cheers to Clear Minds Social Challenge. Guests can post a photo of themselves enjoying Run Wild with #DontRiskTheDrive or #RunWildResponsibly.

Each week, one person will win a prize such as a bar tab, Sunday lunch or an overnight stay, with entries shared across the Casa, Peak Edge and Athletic Brewing channels.

Guests can take part by booking a visit in December, identifying themselves as the designated driver, handing over their keys, enjoying their complimentary pint and, if they wish, joining in the social challenge.

Casa Hotel and Peak Edge Hotel are both family- owned by local entrepreneur Steve Perez, who has a long-standing passion for supporting his community and championing responsible hospitality.

Casa is an independent four-star hotel, bar and restaurant on the edge of Chesterfield, while Peak Edge is a luxury four-star countryside hotel and restaurant on the fringe of the Peak District. Both venues are known for their focus on locally sourced, award-winning food - with many ingredients coming from their own Walton Lodge Estate, warm Peak District hospitality and strong links with local partners and campaigns.

Both have an extensive, innovative calendar of Christmas events and experiences this year, including Festive Bottomless Brunch, Mid-Week Festive Lunch, Christmas Party Nights, Christmas Day Lunch and Boxing Day Lunch at Casa Hotel; and Festive Lunch, Christmas Day Lunch, and Christmas Party Nights at Peak Edge.

These are open to both hotel guests and outside guests. Both hotels have two AA star restaurants, which are extremely popular with locals and visitors alike. Casa also has the vibrant, Spanish inspired Barca Bar, which is well-known for its high-quality cocktails and live music events.
