Independent coffee and lifestyle brand BEAR announces expansion, confirming the location of their sixth site which will take over the former Bennetts store on St. John Street, Ashbourne.

BEAR, the beloved Midlands-based independent coffee house, kitchen, and bar brand, is thrilled to announce the official opening date of its highly anticipated sixth site in Ashbourne, Derbyshire. BEAR Ashbourne will finally open its doors to local coffee lovers, foodies and cocktail sippers on Thursday 5th October, 2023.

Located inside the iconic former Bennetts department store on St. John Street, BEAR Ashbourne represents the brand's commitment to preserving historical architectural features while injecting fresh vitality into the space. This expansion marks an exciting chapter in BEAR's journey and underscores their dedication to creating exceptional hospitality spaces across the Midlands and beyond.

BEAR Ashbourne’s Store Manager, Emma Lomas, expressed her enthusiasm surrounding bringing BEAR to the local High Street:

“There’s been a lot of work happening in the background to get our new store ready, and we’re beside ourselves with excitement to finally be announcing our official opening date! We’ll be on site over the next couple of weeks doing lots of training and store prep, so if you’re about in Ashbourne and our door is open, please feel free to pop your head in to say hello!

BEAR Ashbourne will serve as a versatile coffee house, kitchen, and bar, offering Ashbourne's residents and visitors a welcoming space to enjoy their favorite coffee and fresh brunch options, or mega burgers and funky cocktails. As is the case in BEAR’s other sites, the Ashbourne store will also welcome well-behaved dogs at all hours of the day, so the family pooch doesn’t have to miss a brunch date or a night out!

BEAR will introduce its latest concept, "Later at BEAR," every Friday and Saturday from 5pm. Later at BEAR will bring fully-stacked smash burgers, taco trays, loaded fries, twisted cocktail classics and more, adding an extra layer of excitement to the Ashbourne social scene.

The new site boasts striking high ceilings, original exposed brickwork, and a plethora of historic architectural features, contributing to Ashbourne's rich portfolio of listed buildings. BEAR Ashbourne will be situated amidst the breathtaking Derbyshire countryside, just on the edge of the Peak District, making it an ideal destination for both locals and those exploring the area.

Since its inception in 2016, BEAR has consistently delivered exceptional specialty coffee, seasonal fresh food, cocktails, and craft beer, all served in thoughtfully designed spaces that seamlessly move from day to night.

Mark your calendars for the opening of BEAR Ashbourne on Thursday 5th October 2023!
