The Duncombe Arms
Ellastone, Derbyshire
The Duncombe Arms is a rustic-chic pub in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside that combines the relaxed atmosphere of a loved local pub with high quality British food . Originally an inn dating from the 1850s, it was renovated by Johnny and Laura Greenall, who after driving past the boarded-up pub every day decided to reinstate the pub as the hub of the village. After a complete renovation, The Duncombe Arms reopened in March 2012 and is now run by the Greenall family. Maintaining many of the original features, it is atmospheric and cosy complete with roaring fires, comfy armchairs and spacious garden for the summer months.
The pub is proud of their approach to food with a focus on creating classic pub dishes alongside some more adventurous modern British dishes offering something for everyone. The Duncombe Arms has recently been awarded two rosettes from the AA, and have been nominated Best Dining Pub in Staffordshire for 2017 and 2018. They are also in the Michelin Guide and Tom Parker Bowles described The Duncombe Arms as the ‘local we wish we all had’.
