I love celebrations; they are by their very nature always happy events, so when Cosmo invited us to join them to mark their second birthday we jumped at the chance. My Chick has been there a few times with her friends and always comes back with a huge smile on her face as she tells me about all the lip-smackingly yummy food she’s had.
On this occasion it was just The Man and me who went along and the Cosmo team had set up the raised room at the back as party central. The tables all looked amazing with their decorations and it wasn’t long before tempting little morsels of food were being placed before us to sample - the tempura vegetables were superb, and I also loved the King Prawns. As we mingled with our fellow guests Luca Gallone was on hand to astound and amaze us all with his skilful table magic skills. You can see why he made it into the final 100 acts on Britain’s Got Talent, he put on a really polished display for us.
For the next part of the evening we were invited to go onto the restaurant floor and sample as many of the dishes as we pleased. With dishes on offer from China, Italy, Europe, South America, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Vietnam, Britain, Mexico and India there is certainly something for all palates and appetites. I would love to say that we managed to sample all the different cuisines but even given our gastronomic gusto we had to admit defeat. I have to confess that I was happy to be outgunned as it’s a great reason to go again :)
From the Teppanyaki station I had the (cooked fresh to order in front of me) Squid and Scallops and they were both cooked to perfection. The Scallops were firm and juicy and the Squid wasn’t at all tough or rubbery which is the main reason people steer clear of it normally. The Boy Wonder had the Steak from there too and said it was superbly tender. I also managed to sample the King Prawns with Ginger and Spring Onion, the Spicy Singapore noodles, Stir fried vegetables and a Lotus Bun (comparable to a dumpling with a Satay type filling). Meanwhile, His Nibs had had a wander around and decided to try some dishes from the Amazonian BBQ, so he came back with his plate laden with Brazilian BBQ Beef, Chicken and Lamb and some Sweet Potato. It must have been to his liking as it didn’t take him long to clear his plate.
Next up it was time to try the many desserts on offer, and again we tried to rise to the challenge as best we could. Between us we sampled the Cherry Clafoutis, Creme Brulee, Chocolate Brownie, Panna Cotta, Tiramisu and Florentines. They were all equally delicious, but I do have a soft spot for a good Clafoutis if I see it on a menu.
Before we knew it, it was time for the speeches and the Prize Raffle draw, then the event drew to a close. It had been a great evening with a huge amount of effort clearly being put in by the whole Cosmo team, so I just want to say a massive thank you for allowing us to be part of your celebrations.
If you haven’t been before you really don’t know what you’re missing out on - there literally is something for every family member. The venue has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and is very informal so you can go there and enjoy the experience.
