An Early Lunch At The Perfect Cuppa, Belper
The Boy Wonder and I were busy little birdies at this year’s Belper Food Festival, and our Chickadee had been a star helping to take photos and carry bags so we decided to refresh and refuel ourselves at a local cafe/coffee shop.
We had visited, and reviewed, these premises under their previous ownership and name, Strutt Street Bakery. The venue is now owned by Nicki and Alex and has retained its light airy feel I’m pleased to report. We chose our selection from the pared down “Food Festival” menu; Latte coffees for His Nibs and I, Hot Chocolate with all the trimmings for Chickadee, and an Egg Mayonnaise sandwich, Bacon , Brie and Cranberry Panini and a Tomato, Mozzarella and Pesto Panini.
Our server was a lovely young lady with a fantastic smile and nice manners. It wasn’t long before our food and drinks were brought over to us and we tucked in with much enthusiasm.
The Panini’s had a lovely amount of filling and were both very tasty; the fillings were nice and fresh which really does make all the difference. My Chicks Egg Mayonnaise sandwich was deeply filled too and she soon made light work of it. All the food came with a side portion of good quality crisps and were pleasantly filling.
The regular menu is quite extensive and they do still offer specialty afternoon teas which are bookable in advance, as well as regular cream teas available any time. It was very pleasing to see that the atmosphere and quality of food hadn’t changed at all, so we can still recommend it to you dear reader.
