A Derby bar and restaurant is launching special alcohol free cocktails for designated drivers in the lead up to Christmas.

Seven Bar & Restaurant based on Pride Park, will offer designated drivers a free festive cocktail this season, with options available including Guilt free G&T, Designated Daiquiri, and Home James.

It is hoped that this will encourage people to enjoy the Christmas period, despite being the designated driver

The offer is aimed at encouraging people to resist the temptation to get behind the wheel after a few drinks during this season and available for people who are having a meal at Seven.

Campbell Salloway, manager at Seven Bar & Restaurant, said: “We wanted to come up with something for people who want to go out and celebrate over the Christmas period without having a drink. Our new cocktails for designated drivers are extremely tasty and we are sure that people will like them.”

It comes as Derbyshire Constabulary launches its annual Christmas drink driving campaign.

From December 1 2016 to January 1 2017, officers carried out a total of 273 breath tests on drivers, with 43 of them testing positive, failing to provide, or refusing to take the test.

Throughout the month, there were 412 road traffic collisions in Derbyshire, with 131 of the total breath tests taking place following an incident.

Of these, 21 motorists were over the legal limit, couldn’t give a sample, or refused. In one case, a 26-year-old woman provided a sample of 143 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath at the roadside. The legal limit in England is 35.

The cocktails will be available throughout December. All you need to do is let the bar staff know that you are the designated driver and you can choose your free great western drink.

Seven has recently launched its Christmas menus and is taking bookings for parties over the festive period. Christmas Day is fully booked but there is a Christmas lunch and dinner menu that will be served throughout December, with the option of two or three courses.
