A celebrated fine dining restaurant is firmly back in business after a packed first weekend under new ownership.
Over 80 VIP guests were the first to view the refurbished Silversmiths on Arundel Street and sample the menu of new chef Ashley Bagshaw.
The eatery, which famously went on to win numerous awards after being featured on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares programme, has been re-launched by local businessmen Rick Bailey and Matt Ray.
They are promising to "ensure Silversmiths reaches its true potential and becomes one of Yorkshire's premier independent fine dining brands".
They have put their faith in 23-year-old head chef Ashley Bagshaw who is already tipped for greatness and has presided over some of the area's most renowned kitchens since he got his first chef de partie position at Sheffield's Wig & Pen in 2011.
Ashley Bagshaw said: "I want to make Silversmiths the best eatery in Sheffield - no question. I like to be challenged. I love creating something that turns heads."
The new Silversmiths is also keen to become a hub for local business people and to develop a thriving after work scene.
Rick Bailey said: "We want to become popular with people looking for somewhere of quality to relax after work. Sheffield has often struggled to develop an after work dining and bar scene - we want to become a catalyst for the area and are launching our own business club."
Matt Ray has held senior positions at Gatecrasher, Bloo88 and Soyo. Rick Bailey runs the 150-strong IPM Group. He recently launched the thriving FirePit rock/sports bar on West Street.
Silversmiths Restaurants is based at 111 Arundel Street, Sheffield, S1 2NT. Reservations can be made on 0114 270 6160.
