The eagerly awaited Derbyshire Cook Book is launching with a special event at Bean Caffe on Wednesday 20th May.  To mark the occasion, the book’s publishers, contributors and guests will celebrate with a delicious selection of canapés and drinks from recipes and producers featured in the book.

The Derbyshire Cook Book is a 192-page full colour book, featuring over 40 stunning recipes from some of the finest independent restaurants, cafés, delicatessens, pubs, farm shops, producers and suppliers in Derbyshire. It also features guest recipes from a few well-known local faces such as BBC Radio Derby presenter Sally Pepper, actor and presenter Des Coleman, and football legend Roy McFarland.

Spanning the vast majority of the peak district and the city of Derby, the region’s vibrant independent food scene includes quality local produce from the likes of Chatsworth Estate, Matlock Meadows and numerous breweries such as Thornbridge, Buxton and Ashover.  The focus for many local chefs and business owners is to make the most of the food and drink delights, to champion local suppliers and make innovative delicious dishes from them.

The book offers recipes, stories and anecdotes from well-established businesses, newcomers and the personalities behind the Derbyshire food and drink scene.  Featuring the likes of Michelin-starred Fischers at Baslow Hall, Losehill House, The Devonshire Arms, Iberico, Owen Taylor & Sons, The Bakewell Cook Shop, Nourish at No. 44, Tickled Trout, Dovecote at Morley Hayes, Pointing Dog, Baked Artisan Bakery and Café, Opulence and many, many more – readers will be sure to spot one or two of their favourite eateries, as well as find a few new haunts.

With a collection of diverse recipes from The Apple Tree Tea Room’s lemon, lime and raspberry mojito loaf to Samuel Fox’s braised beef cheeks in red wine, Nonna’s pappardelle di zucchine con capesante, Marsh Green Farm Shop’s Derbyshire Breakfast, Anoki’s Lahoori gosht, Old Hall’s Inn steak and ale pudding, The Plough Inn’s hot goey chocolate pudding and of course, the original Bakewell pudding, there's something to whet everybody’s appetite.

Chef Rupert Rowley explained: “At Rowley’s we are very happy to be part of the Derbyshire Cook Book. It will really highlight the great ingredients, suppliers, producers, farmers, restaurants, cafes etc we have in the county to the rest of Great Britain.”

The Derbyshire Cook Book retails at just £14.95 and will be available from Monday 18th May in all of the businesses featured in the book as well as select local gift shops, book shops including Waterstones and online at www.amazon.co.uk.
