Derbyshire Food Blog, The Sticky Beak Blog celebrated its third birthday this month with a trip to Chesterfields recently opened seafood restaurant, Catch 22
The blog was started in June 2013 by Angie & Paul after a night out at Blueys Aussie Steakhouse In Alfreton
“We enjoyed our meal so much we wanted tell other people in the area about it” said Angie
“Paul was already running the Amber Valley Info web site and he felt this would be a great feature to bring additional visitors to the site”
In 2014 the blog was doing so well it was moved to its own web site where it has continued to grow in popularity. The blog has reviewed over 100 restaurants, cafes and takeaways and now gets around 4000 visitors to the web site each month.
“We felt there was too much misuse of negative reviews online and our food blogger ‘Sticky Beak’ (Angie) decided to only write positive reviews – If she visits somewhere and doesn’t enjoy the experience then she just doesn’t write about it and they’ll never know she has been” said Paul
“If she would recommend it to friends and family then she writes a review. Those that she does write about get awarded the ‘Hot Wings’ award and they can display this in their restaurant or add a badge to their web site. “
As well as reviews, the web site includes food related news, recipes, menus, local foodie events and a newly created section for local food producers.
The blog has recently started a Hall of Fame which charts the most popular reviews on the blog.
“I’m having so much fun visiting all these new places to eat as well as a few old favourites” said Angie “If you would like me to pay your venue a visit or you can recommend somewhere to visit then let me know”
“The Catch 22 is the most popular review on the blog and has now been visited over 1000 times which is why I chose it to celebrate the blogs third birthday”
