Breakfast At Fresh Ground in Belper
Published On Saturday 26 Mar 2016 by Sticky Beak
Fresh Ground In Belper Closed Permanently In September 2017 The decor is kept neutral so that the metal musical instrument sculptures on the walls really do stand out; dark wood flooring and seating in shades of red and brown finish the premises off very nicely. The menu is fairly extensive so there’s something for everyone; no surprises in The Boy Wonders choice of Full English, but I went off-piste slightly and had a toasted Muffin with Cream Cheese, Bacon and Maple Syrup. Chickadee opted for a breakfast baguette with Sausage, Bacon and Scrambled Egg in, and a Hot Chocolate; Him Indoors and I both had a Latte to drink. Before long our server brought our food to us and we all tucked in enthusiastically to the plates of steaming hot food. His Nibs soon demolished 2 rashers of Bacon, Scrambled egg, 2 Sausages, Tomato, Mushrooms and buttered toast, declaring it all to be very tasty and satisfying. The premises and staff were spotlessly clean, and our server was nice and polite. So if you find yourselves in Belper and want somewhere different to try, I can recommend Fresh Ground to you dear reader :)
I love it when The Man tells me he’s taking me out for breakfast; it means the weekend has arrived. Off we flew to Belper with The Chick in tow, to visit Fresh Ground; from the outside the premises look fairly unassuming and quite small, but it’s like the Tardis when you step inside, with more than enough space for large numbers.
Our Chick was chomping merrily away at her baguette saying how nice it was and how full her belly was when she had finished. My own muffin was a perfect blend of creaminess and crispiness, and I loved the fact that the syrup was in a separate little bowl so I could add as much or as little as I wanted. We were all agreed that the food was really good and good value too for the amount and quality: Full breakfast was £6.05, breakfast baguette £4.95 and muffin £3.95.
