The Derbyshire Cook Book: Second Helpings set for release

After the success of the first edition in 2015, The Derbyshire Cook Book: Second Helpings is set to be released on September 28.

Featuring the stories and recipes of the county’s most divine restaurants, cafés, delicatessens, pubs, farm shops, producers and suppliers, it is your chance to take home the taste of Derbyshire with 35 carefully selected recipes to try at home, provided by the food experts of the area. Contributors to the book stem from hidden gems that lie in the Peaks, as well as more recognised venues who thrive in the urban bustle.

The book is completely new, although some contributors from the first edition have returned with new recipes and stories. Each recipe is created with home cooks in mind, meaning that everyone can have a go at trying something new and experience their own little taste of Derbyshire.

Chris Mapp, owner of the award winning gastro pub, Tickled Trout, introduces the book with his own personal foreword while some familiar faces such as Rupert Rowley from Michelin Star fine dining restaurant, Fischers, in Bakewell returns to the book to share his scallops, elderflower and cucumber recipe.

But it’s not all fine dining. There are family run businesses, such as Close Cow Farm, producer of famous artisan cheeses who make an appearance alongside Yell.com’s North West Family Business of the Year 2016, Fredrick’s Ice Cream, first opened in 1936 and now serving 48 different flavours of sweet goodness.

One of the many contributors, Ralph Wilson, from Peak District Deli expressed how excited he is to get his hands on Second Helpings, after already owning the original Derbyshire Cook Book. “It’s going to be great to see who else is going to be in the new edition! We are always on the lookout for others in the industry. Derbyshire is very important to us because everything we sell comes from local producers in the Peak District. We are very happy and keen to support local businesses and producers from our area.”

Two of Derbyshire’s finest restaurants and pubs have returned to participate in the book. Max Fischer, owner of both said: "We're delighted to have both Fischer's and Rowley's featured in The Derbyshire Cook Book: Second Helpings. Our ethos at Fischer's and Rowley's is to work with the very best local suppliers, and to buy local ingredients to place at the centre of our cooking, so it’s great to be part of the book as a celebration of the wonderful Derbyshire food scene at our fingertips."

There are also contributions from The George in Alstonefield who share their tempura soft shell crab recipe as well as the likes of Hassop Station Café, Chatsworth Farm Shop and Chesterfield Artisan Markets and many others.

The Derbyshire Cook Book: Second Helpings retails at just £14.95 and will be available to purchase from all of the patriating outlets included in the book. You can also get your hand on a copy from national book chains such as Waterstones and WH Smiths, Amazon and smaller independent shops
